01.23.2011

Argentina has this way of leading a very simple, non-consumer-driven life.  This is a concept I particularly love about Argentina.  It is the main motive for my adoration of the nation.  Honestly, it keeps me stable and happy.  Although, there are some downfalls to this notion, particularly to an Americanized person like me.  For example, Argentina constitutes some voodoo magic on the entire internet system that will eternally inhibit me from keeping up with my Glee and Jersey Shore (sick) obsessions.

At this moment, I have no problem without my TV shows—The Office and Community, in particular—and I do not suppose I will have a problem later on, either.  I am not someone that likes to watch a lot of TV anyway.  Although, what I do want are options.  If I want to have a lazy Sunday, after working out at the club in the morning, attending to my Internet needs during the day/late afternoon, I would love the opportunity to sit at home and watch some great (or bad) TV.

We have a nation of novellas, and I am certain I can get hooked like anyone else.  But, for now, I prefer marathons of House and OnDemand of Boardwalk Empire and Dexter.  Mendoza has “Dr. House,” but no USA to air weekly marathons.  Mendoza does not, however, have Boardwalk Empire nor Dexter…let alone OnDemand for my lazy and un-film-cultured needs.  The wonderful thing about Comcast is that with your online account directly connected with your family’s TV account, you may watch essentially everything you have on the TV on your computer.  Not only is it impossible for me to enjoy this feature in my grandmother’s apartment on a lazy Sunday, as you all know I do not have WiFi here (and I do not think it is appropriate to view an episode of Nucky Thompson and his lady friend while sitting at the ice cream parlor). But it is impossible due to the fact that when I do have internet it is recognized as internet from Argentina and Argentina does not want anyone to enjoy watching TV of any sort online.

If I do end up staying, maybe someone will be kind enough to tape (not DVR, actual VHS if they exist anymore…or, can DVD’s record TV?) some of my favorite TV shows?  My birthday is coming up fairly soon, then there’s Christmas in December…great stocking stuffers :)

k bye.
